Kelly and Reed Tie the Knot!!

This past weekend we had the pleasure of celebrating with a very special pair, Kelly and Reed.  From the moment we first met Kelly we knew this was going to be a a night to remember! Their love for life and passion for fun was the perfect medley to keep the party going on all night!

With grace and flare Kelly was beaming as she made her way down the aisle in a very flowy, vintage inspired gown. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when these two spoke of there love for one another. The ceremony was officiated by Lon Tosi with Sensational Ceremonies and took place in the bright and beautiful rotunda.

The ballroom came to life with hues of purple and blue.  The simple and beautiful centerpeices were done by the ever so talented Debbie Robertson with Atmosphere’s Floral and Design. The food was delicious and Puff N Stuff Catering went above and beyond to make sure each plate was perfectly presented. Cakes! by Beth brought in a tasty red velvet cake which was accompanied by a purple and blue inspired candy bar. Les and Wendy Kopaz with Soundwave Entertainment kept the dance floor packed all night long. One of our unforgettable moments was when Reed went in for the garter and out popped a 6ft 11 in man (Look for video to follow shortly)!!  Lora Rodgers Photography and Elegant Entertainment were there to catch each ceremonious event on film. You will have to wait for the photos but I couldn’t wait to get this on the blog!!

The Ballroom at Churchstreet

6 Jun

Melissa and Justin

We had the privilege of working with this amazing couple on their wedding day, May 7, 2011! The ceremony took place at the Nativity Catholic Church in Longwood. With its vaulted ceilings and traditional decor, this beautiful church was the perfect setting for guests to witness the wonderful union and exchanging of vows between Melissa and Justin. Melissa looked stunning as she floated down the aisle and into the arms of her new husband.

The reception was held at the Ballroom at Church Street, which provided a wonderful Old World feel with its glass ceilings, cascading stairs and baby grand piano in the front foyer. Not to mention the unique photo opportunities at this location such as the train tracks and abandoned rail car. No detail was overlooked, from the beautiful arrangement of floral in coral and ivory made by Special Event Florals to the fantastic (and delicious may I add) cake from Cakes by Design. Puff N Stuff catering did an amazing job on the food and A Chair Affair added a bit of flair with their beautiful gold chivari chairs. Digital Imaging Direct was there to catch every moment on camera and Top DJ’s kept the party going all night long!

I have to say one of my favorite parts of the reception was La Hora Loca!  The amount of energy that filled the room along with all the fun props made for some fantastic photos as well as fun memories that will last a lifetime!

Thanks so much to Melissa and Justin for allowing us to be there for your day! We had so much fun and wish you both all the best!

***Current Wedding Shoe Trends***

Every bride looks for ways to personalize their wedding, the bride’s shoes are the perfect opportunity to express personality, add a splash of color, and glam up your wedding day!  What is the key to picking the shoes for your big day? Making a statement. What statement will you make?

Comfort is a priority to many brides when it comes to the big day. Thankfully you can give up the pain of a heel without giving up style on your day! Flats are also great for beach weddings!

Bridal Shoe tips:
-Remember to try your shoes on with your dress! You want to make sure the style and color fit with your dress for the big day
-Wearing your shoes before your big day will help soften or loosen the material so there is less of a chance you’ll get blisters the day of your wedding
-Some new shoes can be slippery on the bottom, sanding the bottoms slightly will prevent any embarrassing moments from taking place on your important day!
-Lastly make sure you are comfortable in them or at the very least you can walk in them and bring cute flats to change into for the reception!!!

Vintage Hair Pieces!

9 Nov

Cage Veils~ These are vintage inspired veils that are known as a “net” or “face” veils. These veils are typically very short and frame the face. They are extremely trendy and very glamorous.

Floral Headbands have a very cool hippie-chic vibe. They are adorable and look great with an up-do or letting the hair down and keeping it all natural!

Decorative Combs~ Make an up-do look more polished. The picture below shows a very unique style of comb that is making bridal attire a little more risky and high fashion.

Couture Clips~ They can come in many shapes, colors, and embellishments. These hairpieces add a real touch of personal style and glamour.

Feather Flowers~ are incredibly trendy and fun.  Such pieces as the peacock feather really bring some fantasy into your wedding attire.

*Hint~ Try matching your hairpiece to your shoes. This will add a touch of color and brightness to your attire.

Why hire a Wedding Planner?

27 Sep

Hiring a wedding coordinator will help avoid a wedding disaster! There are many reasons why hiring a planner is no longer a luxury but a necessity~

Not enough hours in the day~

In today’s reality a couple is faced with not only planning a wedding but coordinating one with other responsibilities such as work, school, children, etc. Who has the time to create timelines, to research vendors, make appointments, negotiate contracts, finalize decisions, budget those decisions and make them come to life. Wedding planners are there to guide and assist you in making informed decisions that will help you sleep at night.

Avoid being a Bridezilla~

Coordinating your own wedding may be the most stressful thing you ever do. Bringing this vision to life is better left to a professional. Lucky for you a wedding planner can also act as your best friend and family counselor. There is no reason to add wrinkles to that beautiful face when you can count on someone else to take care of all the details and face all of the wedding drama. Hiring a wedding planner will let you relax and enjoy stress-free moments with family and friends.

Money Savers~

The last thing you want to do is clear out your bank account and run up credit card debt just to pay for this amazing day. YES! Weddings are not cheap but hiring a wedding planner will help you figure out your budget. Even a million dollar wedding has a budget. It will be a great comfort for you to know where you stand financially. A wedding planner will find vendors that will fit your budget and offer discounts that you may not receive going to these vendors alone. A planner is the most cost-effective choice a bride can make.

Bringing the vision to life~

Trust is the most important factor when hiring a wedding planner. Your personalities should match and you should feel completely comfortable with them. When you have dreamt of this day since you were a little girl you should expect that the planner can bring all of your dreams to reality. A wedding planner should be able to see the whole picture and create elements and details that make this event the most memorable for you and your guests.

Wedding Etiquette~

Do the bridesmaids stand to the left or the right? When should you do the champagne toast? Who is responsible to clean up the event at the end? With all of the planning and executing do you really have the time to research wedding etiquette as well. There are so many factors that go into this day. Having a “go-to” person would eliminate all of these questions.

In the end there is one purpose. The couple should live in the moment, enjoy every aspect of this spiritual occasion. There is no reason for your inner bridezilla to arise when you can hire someone to make your wedding dreams come true!
